We provide a home from home environment that is safe and supportive, where your child will thrive in their learning. Children become increasingly confident and motivated as they engage in a wide range of wonderful activities that captures their imagination.
In order to protect the children and families we provide care for, and ourselves , we are keeping up to date with the latest government advice and ensuring that our hygiene and illness policies are strictly adhered to.
We will help children to wash and dry their hands correctly and regularly talk to them about why it is important to prevent the spread of germs and infection. We display a hand washing poster in the children’s toilets..
Children will be helped to wash their hands on arrival to the setting, after using the toilet, playing outside or touching animals, and before eating any meals or snacks.
Liquid soap and disposable paper towels are provided in the washroom to enable children, staff and visitors to wash and dry their hands properly. The waste bin is emptied daily.
Tissues are available throughout the setting and we encourage children to use them to catch coughs and sneezes. We teach them the importance of putting dirty tissues in the bin to prevent the spread of germs.
If you, your child or anyone in your household is displaying symptoms, has recently returned from a place where coronavirus has been identified, or has been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, government advice must be followed. Should this include self-isolation, then your child will not be able to attend our setting for the duration of the isolation period. As per our fees policy, full fees will still apply during this absence.
Our setting is separated into different areas, each is given it's own 'Gem' identity.
We are a highly inclusive, warm and welcoming nursery. We have extensive policies and procedures in place to support our work in promoting inclusion, diversity and equality.
The ability to speak multiple languages is linked to strong critical thinking.
We are extremely fortunate that our practitioners speak a range of languages including Arabic, French, Spanish and Urdu.
We have created a highly inclusive environment where everyone benefits from being a member of a rich and diverse early years family.
Put simply, the greater the mix of people, the greater the mix of skills, experiences, perspectives and ideas we can draw on.

Like all nurseries, pre-schools and childminders in the UK, Little Gems Nursery is legally obligated to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. We are committed to ensure that your child gets the best possible start in life.
We believe that promoting children’s curiosity and imagination is incredibly important at Little Gems Nursery. We help children to take responsibility for their learning in a nurturing environment where they are safe, cared for and valued.
When we talk and listen to a child we help them to have a voice. Having a voice that is heard is the most powerful safeguarding tool a child can have.
If you have any concerns about keeping children safe or any questions about our safeguarding policy and procedures, come and see a member of our safeguarding team. Having freedom to make choices also means the child has the freedom to say ‘No!’ or ‘Stop! I don’t like it!’
At Little Gems Nursery we want all of our children to be confident enough to speak out and say safe.
We believe that giving children a voice promotes their self esteem and self worth. We give children a voice through choice, enabling them to express their opinions, feelings and emotions. In this way, children develop and learn that they are important and valued.
Feeling valued plays a large role in how a child learns. In order for them to play and explore, actively learn and critically think, they need to feel confident in their environment and have the knowledge that their voice and way of explorations will be recognised and noted.
These are some of the many ways our practitioners give children a voice.
The nursery was registered with Ofsted in July 2018.
